Binding Financial Agreements (BFA)
We believe that we can best serve you by helping you plan now for the possible future by advising you about a Binding Financial Agreement (BFA). You can enter into a BFA before you start a life together or at any time during the relationship. You cannot do a BFA right before your marriage as there must be time for negotiation and there must be an absence of pressure on either party. But when you are planning your future together plan for the possibilities too.
Children’s Matters
Having children together is a responsibility that will last a lifetime. It can bring joy, love, success, heartbreak, and marital conflict. When you separate, you don’t separate from your children. How you manage their future can be complex and confusing. We can help. Getting it right is the most important thing you can do for your children to help them adjust to the decision their parents have made to no longer live together. There are different guidelines for infant, young children and teenagers. Talk to us early so we can help you set the right pathway for your children.
Property Disputes
Your house is often the largest purchase you make. When you separate from your partner, you don’t want to leave that large investment behind. (Just your partner!) Talk to us before you leave, if you can, so we can help you plan how best to maximise your entitlements. If not, then talk to us as early as possible, before your home equity is gone for good. We aim to assist you to make these important decisions as quickly and efficiently as possible, with mediation and negotiation but also with urgent interim court orders if necessary to protect your assets.
Dispute Resolution
Commencing legal actions in Court is often expensive and time consuming, however, not every dispute needs to be litigated through the legal system. We take a commercial and strategic approach to dispute resolution. At STS LEGAL, our experienced lawyers are equipped with not only the requisite legal advocacy skills but also sophisticated interpersonal skills and negotiation techniques that will assist our clients to resolve a dispute through mediation without incurring unnecessary or avoidable expenses.
